You may have been to various specialists, but it’s important that you know exactly what peripheral neuropathy is.
Peripheral neuropathy is a condition where there is damage to your peripheral nerves.
Your peripheral nerves, the nerves outside your spinal cord, are the ones we’re talking about when we discuss neuropathy. The nerves in your toes and fingertips are the ones that are damaged currently.
When these nerves are damaged, they don't function properly and you have all kinds of problems, including tingling and numbness. People with peripheral neuropathy have abnormal sensation in their toes and fingers, so it’s important that we work together to help you get the most out of your care with us.
In the United States, the most common cause of peripheral neuropathy is diabetes. 60 to 70 percent of people with diabetes will develop neuropathy within their lifetime. The other causes of peripheral neuropathy include:
Certain medications, (including some chemotherapy drugs.)
Heredity. Some people have a family history of peripheral neuropathy.
Advanced age. Peripheral neuropathy is more common as people age.
Arthritis. Certain types of arthritis can cause peripheral neuropathy.
Alcoholism. According to the US National Library of Medicine, up to half of all long-term heavy alcohol users develop peripheral neuropathy.
Neurological disorders. Certain neurological disorders, including spina bifida and fibromyalgia, are associated with peripheral neuropathy.
Injury. Acute injury to the peripheral nerves may also cause peripheral neuropathy, but that doesn’t mean everyone that is injured will have neuropathy.

I’ve been coming to Modern Health and my progress for my neuropathy is really great. I have less pain and can walk better, my balance is doing better. I’m really doing good. I’m thankful for the staff and Dr. Gorman for helping me.
I’m receiving therapy on my feet and it is amazing how it has helped my feet feel. Its like I have someone else’s feet on. Its great. I would recommend it.
Hi my name is Tom I came to Dr. Gorman after seeing his ad in the paper. For the last couple years I have suffered from nerve pain and numbness in my legs and toes. I’ve seen other Doctors for this issue. I’ve been coming here for 4 weeks and have seen a noticeable difference in my lower legs and I have minimal pain, feeling in my toes again and the tingling has improved dramatically. I’ve also had some headache issues and don't have that any longer.
Hello, My name is Teresa I came to Modern Health & Wellness to see Dr. Patrick Gorman, I saw an article in the Lima News… Stop your neuropathy pain now, so I came in and started my treatment for peripheral neuropathy. I got all my equipment so I can do it at home. I’m getting better, feeling back in my legs and feet, also working on my neck to help with balance. I would highly recommend Dr. Patrick Gorman.
I am here at Modern Health and my results have been beautiful. My legs were in terrible pain and I had the tingling of the nerves. My feet couldn’t tell me when I was touching the floor. Now at this point in my treatment I am having an exhilarated feeling. I am able to tell when I am touching the floor, the pain is leaving my legs and I am coming around to what I used to be.
I came to Modern Health because I was having numbness in my hands and they are going to sleep. It has improved very much. I don't have the numbness or tingling that I did and I’m very happy with it.
